PetCare Veterinary Clinic is a busy first opinion practice looking after companion animals and their owners. The reception role focuses directly on looking after our clients and their needs efficiently well.

Customer Care is therefore paramount in this position with an emphasis on exceeding customer expectation throughout the entire client journey.

This role is akin to a front of house position in any hospitality role and clients must feel well looked after from booking an appointment to visiting the vet and during any follow up communication required.

The ideal candidate will job share with our current part time receptionist and together will actively promote and represent the practice at all times.

As part of ensuring excellent customer care, duties will include maintaining  the reception area,  booking appointments, managing incoming phone calls, processing client orders, dealing with queries, passing on client queries to vets or nurses, cashing up, maintaining  cleanliness and a clinical environment at all times, ensuring consistent high standards are maintained throughout. Please note this role does not involve working directly with animals.

 Ideal candidates should have:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in hospitality, sales or reception is required.
  • Training and/or a qualification in Customer Service and excellent computer skills.
  • Veterinary Industry knowledge /experience an advantage although not essential
  • Have a caring and can do attitude


  • Veterinary Nurse Qualification and experience is highly preferred. Otherwise a strong knowledge of the veterinary industry and medical conditions is preferred, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with customer service, technically-related fields or veterinary practices preferred.
  • Contact centre experience preferred.
  • Customer service ability required.


  • High quality customer facing inter-personal skills, with experience working with customers and maintaining good customer relationships.

  • Phone skills, with ability to establish rapport

  • Organized with ability to multi task
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written, to include ability to communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical users in a professional, positive, friendly and understandable manner.
  • Personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, with aptitude to learn applicable software and hardware as needed.
