Ms Fionnuala Murphy MVB MRCVS and Mrs Karen-Anne Smith BVMS MRCVS

FMFionnuala grew up on her family farm in south west Ireland and has been around animals all her life.

After graduating from Dublin Veterinary School in 2013, she enjoyed two and half years working in a mixed animal practice looking after both farm and small animals in rural Ireland. She recently moved to West Sussex in December 2015 with her Partner, to look for a practice to settle down with

She loves the outdoors and enjoys exploring the countryside, both walking and jogging. She also has a love for Rugby and is hoping to continue playing in Sussex.

karen 1Karen has been in practice for over 30 years and still seriously enjoys all aspects of being a small animal vet.

She has a particular interest in small mammals, a subject that most vets shy away from, and has become somewhat of an expert in treating ferrets, rabbits and Guinea pigs.

Her patients have a great variety of backgrounds:

From the ferret that flies to see her from the Channel Islands to the one that lives on a canal barge.

From the rabbit that has a personal TV in the back of the car to keep him happy on the way to the surgery to the one who sleeps in her owner’s bed.

From the Guinea pig who has a regular hair cut with her to the beloved homeless rescues.

At home she spends a considerable amount of time managing the woodland property with her Husband Alan and being dictated to by their ever changing population of pets. She says ‘currently our dogs and cats rule the roost and help round up the chickens at dusk’.

We are delighted to welcome Fionnuala and Karen to our team.
